The Hitachi Thunder 9500 V storage platforms ranged from small scale, single enclosure fibre channel disk deployments to mid-range, multiple enclosure fibre channel and SATA disk systems with up to 30 expansion drawers. All support various RAID levels for performance and resiliency and dual controller configurations to maintain data availability. With 2Gbps FC host connectivity, mirrored CACHE and hot-swap replaceable hardware components the Thunder 9500 V series is a flexible and resilient SAN solution. With an array of optional software packages from in-system replication, SAN to SAN replication to LUN size expansion and support for multiple host operating systems, the Thunder 9500 V series of arrays were a flexible and efficient storage solution.
The Thunder 9500V series reached End of Life (EoL) at the beginning of 2013, but that does not mean they are no longer a viable storage platform. While the performance of these systems may be outdated compared to modern SANs, they still have the ability to support either less intensive IO requirements or be used as a viable and reliable data archiving platform. BASE IT understand that a system's functional capability is not determined by the manufacturer's EOL announcement, but rather by whether there is an environment they could still support. We understand that the Thunder 9500 V platform could allow you to redeploy a system, greatly increasing the Return On Investment (ROI) and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
